Material as Time: Structure, Economy, and Emergency Architecture

Through the work of Shigeru Ban, architecture is understood as a direct response to material availability, urgency, and social need. Lightweight structural systems, often developed from unconventional or readily available resources, demonstrate how construction can be both precise and economical.
