Tours
The UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 Barcelona offers attendees a wide variety of guided tours that complement the six conceptual axes of Becoming. Architectures for a planet in transition —More-than-human, Attuned, Embodied, Interdependent, Hyper-conscious and Circular—. These tours translate the conceptual proposal of the Congress into an immersive experience through visits to numerous reference architectural interventions in the Barcelona metropolitan area and throughout Catalonia.
The tours will take place between 25 June and 5 July 2026, increasing in intensity during the days of the congress (29 and 30 June, and 1 July 2026).
The means of transport will vary according to each itinerary; mainly by bus, bicycle, on foot and, exceptionally, by boat.
The starting and ending points of the tours will be located at the main venues of the Congress, the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB), the Disseny Hub and Les Tres Xemeneies in Sant Adrià del Besòs. Some itineraries may depart from other locations, which will be announced when registration opens.
Tickets to participate in the tours will be available from January 2026 and can be purchased through the Visitor Area.
Becoming Tours
Each of the six conceptual themes of the conference will feature two half-day tours, offering two ways of interpreting the same concept through architectural works, infrastructure and urban spaces relevant to the city and its surroundings. Covering a broad time span — beyond nostalgia or novelty — these crafted circuits will help us understand that these concerns present in the Becoming theme, although changing, have been consistently present over time in architectural practice.
Regional Tours
Full-day itineraries will showcase the quality of the architecture built outside Barcelona’s metropolitan area, which is necessary to understand many of the changes that the city has undergone historically. The tours cover six radial axes, with its centre in Barcelona and radiating to the rest of the Catalan territory.
Maritime Tours
Another tour is offered in parallel – outside the conceptual framework of the conference – to help us understand the evolution and future challenges of Barcelona and its coastline, from a maritime perspective. A boat trip, on the popular Golondrinas, will depart from the old town to dock at the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB), the main venue for the conference.
