The UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 Barcelona (UIA2026BCN) official presentation will take place on the 14 of April at 10.00 (CEST) in the auditorium of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC) in Barcelona at Plaça Nova, 5. This key event will reveal essential information about this global event, including the venues, the first confirmed speakers, opportunities for participation, and all details about the Call For Participants, launched on 31 March.
The event will be presided over by Iñaqui Carnicero, Secretary General for Urban Agenda, Housing and Architecture (MIVAU) and Víctor Puga, Secretary of Territory of the Government of Catalonia and Laia Bonet, First Deputy Mayor Area for Urban Planning, Ecological Transition, Urban Services and Housing; as well as representatives of the organising institutions: Marta Vall-llossera, President of the Higher Council of Professional Associations of Architects of Spain (CSCAE) and the UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 Barcelona; Teresa Táboas, Vice President of the International Union of Architects (UIA) and the Congress and Guim Costa Calsamiglia, Dean of the The Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC) and Director of the Congress.
Additionally, the Congress curatorial team—Pau Bajet, Mariona Benedito, Maria Giramé, Tomeu Ramis, Pau Sarquella, and Carmen Torres—will present the theme Becoming. Architectures for a Planet in Transition, which will shape the Congress programme, as well as the Research by Design approach, one of the key innovations of this edition.
This event is open to the public subject to registration welcoming both industry professionals and anyone interested in learning more about the Congress.
