Internationale Bauausstellung 2027 StadtRegion Stuttgart (IBA’27) is a ten-year journey of shared discovery that aims to make the Stuttgart Region a liveable, inclusive, and sustainable place for the future. Marking 100 years since the seminal Weissenhof Estate exhibition, IBA’27 culminates in 2027 with a public presentation that asks fundamental questions: How do we want to live together in the coming decades? How can future-proof housing be conceived? And how can cities, towns, and settlements in one of Europe’s most industrialised metropolitan regions respond to social, technological, and ecological change?
The exhibition sites of IBA’27 consist of buildings and neighbourhoods that make transformation tangible. These projects promote mixed-use homes and quarters that bring together living, working, and social life. Through a combination of small- and large-scale building blocks, they create urban density while strengthening the public realm. Landscapes are conceived to reconcile human activity with ecological systems. All IBA’27 projects share a respectful approach to materials, spatial quality, and social relationships, emerging from the transformation of mono-functional areas into a mixed-use Productive City.
IBA’27 is managed by IBA 2027 StadtRegion Stuttgart GmbH. Its partners include the City of Stuttgart, the Verband Region Stuttgart, the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation, the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects, and the University of Stuttgart. An international board of trustees oversees the qualification process and advises the supervisory board on project selection.
