Arrhov Frick
Arrhov Frick was founded in Stockholm in 2010 by Johan Arrhov (b. 1979) and Henrik Frick (b. 1977). The two met as teenagers and, after studies in economics, philosophy, art, and painting, pursued architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in the early 2000s. Carlos Nieto Cid (b. 1977) joined the studio in 2013 and became a partner in 2017.
The studio works across a diverse range of projects, approaching architecture through careful in situ observation and a continuous, process-driven methodology. Their primary objective is to create architecture that improves life for people, developing buildings and planning from the existing context. Projects aim to be simple to construct, easy to maintain, pleasant to inhabit, and stimulating to discover. Buildings are conceived as places that support ideological and programmatic freedom, encouraging longevity in the construction sector.
In parallel with practice, the partners are actively involved in academic discourse, participating as critics in juries and universities across Europe. They lecture internationally, and their work is widely published in monographs and journals. Since 2021, Johan Arrhov has served as Visiting Professor at the Accademia di Architettura Mendrisio, leading a research-based studio exploring necessary changes in needs and behaviors as a tool to generate relevant architectural proposals.
