Eva Franch + TAKK

(Spain)

Eva Franch and TAKK (Mireia Luzárraga + Alejandro Muiño) form a shared field of practice where architecture becomes a tool for public imagination, environmental responsibility, and civic agency. Working across Barcelona and New York—and through expansive networks in Europe, the U.S., and Asia—they connect research, design, curating, and teaching to explore how spatial practice can catalyze more just forms of life.

Franch is an architect and co-founder of FAST, a research and design platform at the intersection of architecture, environmental imagination, and civic technologies. She teaches at UMPRUM and Columbia GSAPP, has directed influential institutions including the Architectural Association in London and Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York, and has curated and produced major international projects such as OfficeUS, the 2014 U.S. Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, including the film The Architects (now in MoMA’s collection). Her recent work developed with TAKK, includes Water Parliaments for Catalonia in Venice (2025) and the book 100 Words for Water, gathering global voices and optimistic imaginaries.

TAKK is an architecture and research studio led by Luzárraga and Muiño, with offices in Barcelona and New York. Luzárraga is Director of Studio I at Columbia University GSAPP, and both partners have been guest professors at the University of Tokyo. Their practice integrates feminist thought and ecology into spatial strategies, and has been recognized with awards including FAD Awards 2025, Design Vanguard 2024, Best Archilover Project 2023, and Temps de les Arts 2022 among others. Their work is held in collections such as FRAC Centre–Val de Loire, the Vitra Design Museum, the MAK Center for Art & Architecture (Los Angeles), and Design Hub Barcelona.

Together, Franch and TAKK advance a transdisciplinary approach to architecture—linking cultural production and built work to new civic narratives and ecological futures.
