PARABASE

Co-Founder / Architect
(Switzerland)

PARABASE is an architecture practice founded by Carla Ferrando Costansa and Pablo Garrido Arnaiz in 2023, after working at Herzog & de Meuron, Foster & Partners, Diener & Diener Architekten, and Miller & Maranta.

Their work explores alternative perspectives on reuse and other circular strategies, questioning conventional modes of construction and consumption by considering the economy of means, materials, and energy. Buildings are approached as material evidence of social and economic histories rather than as autonomous forms.

PARABASE combines the development and construction of architectural projects with research and teaching. They have taught in Mendrisio and Bern, been visiting professors at Bauhaus University Weimar and ETH Zürich, and are currently visiting professors at TU Wien. They have led workshops including Porto Academy 2025, DEX at Cuinda University Bangkok, and Paraply at the Royal Academy Copenhagen, and have participated as jurors and lecturers at ETH Zürich, AAM Mendrisio, EPFL Lausanne, Harvard GSD, Cornell AAP, Dropcity Milano, TU München, Polimi Milano, Oslo School of Architecture, ETSAM Madrid, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and TU Delft.

Their work has received numerous international awards and was selected for the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale and the 4th Lisbon Triennale. PARABASE is currently developing projects of various scales internationally.
