Simulaa is an architectural practice based in Naarm, established by Andre Bonnice and Anna Jankovic. The studio’s work is defined by a considered, research-based approach that prioritises time-based design thinking. Working across a broad range of scales and contexts, Simulaa explores how architecture can respond and act within environmental limits, interrelational systems, and layered temporalities. Operating across design, research, exhibition-making, and teaching, the practice examines architectural production through material, spatial, and contextual considerations.

Simulaa’s projects have been recognised for their contributions to architectural discourse through built work, exhibitions, workshops, and research-led collaborations. The studio co-curated and designed Deep Time Real Time at the Design Hub Gallery; presented Design Standards as part of the National Gallery of Victoria’s Melbourne Now exhibition; and exhibited Easey Factory in Retrofit at the Design Gallery, Melbourne. Their research project Notes from a Finite World was supported by the inaugural Alastair Swayn International Research Grant, and their proposal Gas Stack received the AA Unbuilt Prize in 2022 as part of the shortlisted 2021 NGV Architecture Commission.

Alongside practice, Simulaa maintains a strong commitment to teaching and knowledge exchange through studios, workshops, and public programmes. Bonnice and Jankovic are lecturers in architecture, teaching and undertaking research at the University of Melbourne and RMIT University, respectively.
