Bangkok Tokyo Architecture
(Thailand)Bangkok Tokyo Architecture is an architectural studio founded by Wtanya Chanvitan and Takahiro Kume in 2017. The studio is fascinated by open-ended structures and the thoughtful assembly of everyday elements, blurring the lines between the ordinary and the exceptional.
Their practice explores ways to liberate architecture from the realm of experts and professionals, aiming to discover potential models of continuity. BTA has been recognized internationally, including being Highly Commended at the Architecture Review Emerging Awards 2023 and winning the Rice University Spotlight Award in 2024. Wtanya and Takahiro contribute to architecture both as educators and practitioners across a range of cultural and institutional contexts.

Becoming Attuned
Architecture is not a finished form fixed in time, nor is it always the product of a single author, but something that is continually modified, adapted, and reinterpreted. Our involvement as architects is only temporary and partial—only the initiator of the transformations to come. Rather than aiming for a fixed, singular form or a fully resolved design, how can we uncover the potential in what already exists while opening up possibilities for others? How can we challenge the conventional ideas of authorship and completion?
The hands-on process will center on creating physical models and drawings that are passed on between groups. It begins with working with raw materials—breaking, cutting, stacking, and assembling them. Each group will then contribute to different layers of the model and build upon what others have made. Through collaboration and the unpredictability of the process, we will create open-ended architectures that belong to no one and everyone. It is, in a way, seeing architecture as an act of discovery—one that involves continuous interrogation, reconfiguration, and letting go.
