Stage 1
Reorienting economic systems away from value extraction and toward collective value creation.
Framed through housing and the built environment, this lecture examines how public investment, mission-oriented policy and new forms of governance can treat housing, land, and infrastructure as common goods rather than financial assets, redefining the role of the state, markets, and design in delivering social and ecological well-being by being critical to dominant models of urban development and argueing that displacement and polarization are central to today’s urban crisis, calling for renewed collective action to reclaim cities as spaces of social justice and shared rights.
