Sediments, sea-level rise, and more-than-human life are reshaping how territories are formed, inhabited, and maintained. Bringing together research-by-design, experimental workshops, and critical reflection, this plenary addresses architecture’s role within dynamic coastal and urban ecologies.
Investigations from the Ebro Delta, the Netherlands, Costa Brava and Barcelona foreground sedimentary care, adaptive landscapes, and multispecies coexistence as central design concerns. Rather than treating land and water as stable boundaries, the session examines their constant negotiation through ecological processes, political decisions, and design practices. Critical responses situate these works within broader debates on environmental responsibility, territorial governance, and architecture’s agency in planetary transformation.
