BeAr
BEAR is an architecture studio based in Bilbao that explores architecture as a discursive practice. Led by Ane Arce and Iñigo Berasategui, the studio’s work has received significant recognition and has been widely published in national and international specialized media. Notable awards include the Peña Ganchegui Award for Best Young Basque Architects (2019), the Egurtek Award (2020), and multiple COAVN Awards (2025), as well as distinctions from FAD, Arquia Próxima, and BEAU.
In 2025, BEAR participated in the Spanish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale as one of the selected teams for Internalities, and its project Zubitegi Park was nominated for the EU Mies Award. That same year, Ane Arce was named among the 40 Under 40 best architects by the Chicago Athenaeum. Recent recognitions include COAVN Awards for architecture and interior design, as well as finalist positions in urban design, rehabilitation, and social housing. The studio has also been finalist in the FAD Awards, ENOR, and BIGMAT, and its work has been exhibited at the Spanish Pavilion in Venice.
BEAR has won several national competitions, including the Elgoibar Health Center and the offices and social center in Zorrotzaurre, Bilbao. Its projects have been selected and catalogued in multiple editions of Próxima, exhibited at the Spanish Architecture Biennial, and shown at institutions such as the Casa de la Arquitectura and Villa Noailles. The studio regularly lectures and teaches at ETSAUN and internationally, with recent conferences and masterclasses at Cornell University, ETSAM, and the École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris.
