FALA is an architecture practice based in Porto, founded in 2013 and led by Filipe Magalhães, Ana Luísa Soares, Ahmed Belkhodja, and Lera Samovich, together with Ana Lima, João Carlos Lopes, Ana Catarina Silva, Elias Schmitz, and Lorena Ojea Espadas.

The studio has lectured worldwide at institutions including Tokyo Centennial Hall, ETH Zurich, USI Mendrisio, the AA, RIBA and the Barbican in London, GSAPP in New York, the Graham Foundation in Chicago, Rice University in Houston, Bozar in Brussels, and Casa dell’Architettura in Rome. In addition to current teaching positions in Paris, Geneva, and Lausanne, FALA has taught at architecture faculties in Toronto, Venice, Munich, and London, among others.

FALA’s work has been exhibited at the Venice and Chicago Architecture Biennials, the Serralves Foundation, and the Pavillon de l’Arsenal in Paris, with solo exhibitions in Germany, Italy, France, and Portugal. Their projects have been widely published in print and digital media, including Domus, L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui, Arquitecturaviva, Bauwelt, and The Architectural Review. 2G dedicated a monographic issue (#80) to FALA, and A+U did so in October 2023 (#637). The studio received the Spotlight Award from Rice University in 2020.
