RMA Architects is an architectural practice based in Mumbai and Boston. The studio engages with a diverse range of clients, including governmental and non-governmental agencies, corporate and private clients, and institutions. Its projects span from single-family residences to larger-scale buildings and urban design proposals, including residential, office, institutional, art galleries, retail, and the conservation of historic structures.
Led by a core team of principal architects and design associates, RMA Architects works closely with local craftspeople and contractors to develop and refine construction details and building methods that are sustainable, contextually relevant, and grounded in local knowledge. By collaborating with varied constituencies and engaging with multiple modes of making and practice, the studio develops culturally specific design solutions for each unique context.
In 2018, RMA Architects received a ‘Special Mention’ from the Venice Biennale jury for three projects that explore intimacy and empathy, gently diffusing social boundaries and hierarchies.
