Natura Futura

José Fernando Gómez Marmolejo.
Founder
(Ecuador)

Founded in 2015 by José Fernando Gómez Marmolejo in Babahoyo, Ecuador, Natura Futura is a practice dedicated to contextual and socially engaged architecture across Latin America. The studio investigates the sensitive realities of cities and communities, approaching each project as a study of collective space, local resilience, and cultural continuity. Through continuous experimentation and research, Natura Futura develops strategies that merge technical rigor with community-based processes, emphasizing the territory and the historical dimensions embedded in each place.

Its work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Architecture Festival in Bali and Valparaíso, and has received distinctions at the Pan-American Quito Biennial, three additional Quito Biennial awards in 2020, and the Vienna Brick Award in 2022. The studio has also been recognized at the Latin American Architecture Biennial (BAAL) and multiple ArchDaily Building of the Year nominations. Natura Futura collaborates closely with local actors to create architecture that transfers knowledge, reinforces everyday urbanity, and elevates local practices within contemporary design.
