On 8 May 2025 at 11:30 a.m., the official presentation of the UIA 2026 World Congress of Architects, titled Becoming. Architectures for a Planet in Transition, will take place at Palazzo Zorzi in Venice.
The event is part of the programme UIA Architecture in Transition: from Heritage to Urban Futures, and it marks the beginning of a journey towards a congress that, in 2026, will transform Barcelona into an international laboratory of contemporary architecture, sustainability, and related disciplines.
During the presentation, the curatorial team and organisers will outline the thematic framework and structure of the congress, which aims to position architecture as a driver of change in the face of global challenges.
Representatives from the Spanish Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (MIVAU), the Government of Catalonia, and the Barcelona City Council will be in attendance, along with the organising institutions: the International Union of Architects (UIA), the Higher Council of Professional Associations ofArchitects of Spain (CSCAE), and the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC).
