Becoming.
Architectures for a planet in transition
The exhibition “Becoming. Architectures for a planet in transition.” will transform the turbine hall of the Sant Adrià de Besòs power plant —the iconic Three Chimneys building— into a space for architectural experimentation, research, and exchange expanding the congress content to an exhibition of 4,000m2.
At the centre of the exhibition, twelve international Research by Design teams will present project-based investigations developed over the past year, through models, prototypes, videos, and full-scale installations. Conceived specifically for the Congress, these works set the framework for the exhibition, positioning it as a space of experimentation and critical inquiry.
In dialogue with them, the exhibition brings together the work of the Congress speakers, approximately 200 contributions, forming a broad landscape of built and theoretical practices across the different thematic lines.
The exhibition also includes the results of the International Emerging Workshop, bringing together 180 students, as well as a selection of winning and finalist projects from the UNESCO-UIA International Student Competitions; Catalysts of Resilience, Architecture in the Aftermath of Disasters and Light of Tomorrow.
Activated daily through public events and gatherings, the exhibition extends beyond a conventional display to become a shared space for discussion and encounter.
