Ibiye Camp

(United Kingdom)

Ibiye Camp is a British Nigerian artist based in London whose practice investigates postcolonial conditions, technology, and the built environment. Working with architectural tools, she produces film, sound, textiles, and 3D objects that examine landscapes shaped by organic, electronic, and industrial systems, critically addressing biases embedded within technological and manufacturing processes. Her research-led practice includes fieldwork in Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Ethiopia, where she explored data glitches and infrastructural failures to question the disconnect between digital systems and lived landscapes.

Camp has presented work internationally at the Sharjah Architecture Triennial (2019), Triennale Milano (2020), and the 13th Shanghai Biennale (2021), where her research was awarded a Seed Grant from Design Trust Hong Kong. She has also presented work at Art Basel Hong Kong with CHAT Centre for Heritage Arts and Textiles, and has shown at the ICA and Deptford X in London (2022). In 2023, she presented work at the Venice Architecture Biennale in Guests from the Future, and in 2024 participated in Unseen Guests, part of the British Pavilion’s public programme at the 60th Venice Art Biennale. In 2026, she held her first solo institutional exhibition, Layt De Kam, at Bonnington Gallery, Nottingham.

Camp holds an MA in Architecture from the Royal College of Art; her thesis, Data: The New Black Gold, was awarded the Dean’s Prize and nominated for the RIBA Silver Medal. She co-runs the BA studio Digital Native at the Design Academy Eindhoven.
