Lara Almarcegui

Lara Almarcegui (Zaragoza, 1972) lives and works in Rotterdam. She has developed an artistic practice exploring the material aspects of land, architecture, and urban spaces. For over twenty years, she has worked in different cities, identifying abandoned, unused, or forgotten sites and examining the contemporary transformation processes driven by social, political, and economic change. Almarcegui has also focused on construction sites, particularly the composite materials used in new buildings and the cyclical relationship between land and architecture.

She represented Spain at the 55th Venice Biennale (2013) and is represented by Gallery Ellen de Bruijne Projects in Amsterdam, Carreras Mújica in Bilbao, and Mor Charpentier in Paris.
