KK+N+S is an occasional collaboration between landscape architects Dirk Sijmons and Lodewijk van Nieuwenhuijze of H+N+S Landscape Architects, architect Ro Koster of Ro&Ad Architects, and exhibition architect Herman Kossmann of KdJ Exhibition Architects. The four practitioners share a deep fascination with the relationship between nature and culture, as well as a commitment to integrating nature-based solutions into design practice.
Alongside their regular professional work in their respective fields, the collaborators engage in a loose but ongoing partnership on research-by-design projects, competitions, and pilot studies. Their work collectively explores innovative ways to achieve water safety through the careful deployment of both abiotic and biotic natural processes, demonstrating how ecological thinking can inform practical and resilient design strategies. Through this collaborative approach, KK+N+S bridges disciplinary boundaries and encourages experimentation at the intersection of landscape architecture, architecture, and exhibition design.
