OFFICE is an architectural practice founded by Kersten Geers (1975) and David Van Severen (1978), established in 2002 in Brussels. The studio is committed to architecture as a cultural undertaking aimed at improving the human environment. Within this framework, pressing issues such as sustainability, responsible sourcing, and future use are understood as catalysts for shaping urban and social realms, with architectural form conceived as part of the solution. OFFICE operates as a collaborative practice, bringing together colleagues, developers, and experts from various disciplines to ensure the quality of each project. Its work is both pragmatic and innovative, while remaining deeply rooted in diverse architectural histories. At its core, the studio’s work creates a framework within which life unfolds in all its complexity.
OFFICE projects vary in scale and typology, ranging from furniture to urban design. The practice is closely linked to academic research and teaching, generating productive parallels between these aspects of its work. Kersten Geers is currently Full Professor at the Academy of Architecture USI in Mendrisio. Both founders have previously served as Design Critics in Architecture at Harvard Graduate School of Design and have taught at institutions including the Berlage Institute, TU Delft, Ghent University, Columbia University GSAPP, Yale School of Architecture, and EPF Lausanne.
