Turenscape was established in 1998 by Dr. Kongjian Yu (Harvard GSD), Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and recipient of the Oberlander Prize and the IFLA Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award. Recognized as a pioneering first-level government-accredited design institute, Turenscape brings together over 500 professionals specializing in architecture, landscape architecture, and urbanism, delivering integrated and innovative design solutions.

Under Dr. Yu’s leadership for more than 25 years, the studio has completed over 1,000 projects across more than 250 cities worldwide. Their work has received over 100 international awards, including 16 ASLA Excellence and Honor Awards, 9 WAF Awards, 6 AZ Awards, Holcim Awards, the ULI Excellence Award, and the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award.

Guided by the philosophy “Nature, Man, and Spirits as One,” Turenscape fosters a deep connection between land and people, creating sustainable and culturally grounded environments. Dr. Yu approaches landscape architecture and urbanism as the “art of survival,” addressing urban growth, environmental challenges, and climate change. Signature strategies such as “negative planning,” “sponge city,” “Big Foot Aesthetics,” and “Deep Form” reflect the studio’s commitment to ecological resilience and functional beauty.

Turenscape continues to design landscapes and urban spaces that strengthen human-nature connections, cultivating a future in which both thrive in harmony.
