In the context of Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture and the UIA World Congress of Architects 2026, this forum forms part of the programme of activities associated with the exhibition REGENERATIONS: China and Spain in the Mirror, which will remain open to the public until 31 July.
The session will bring together the exhibition’s curators, Li Xiangning and Manuel Blanco, alongside leading figures in contemporary architecture from China and Spain, including Xu Tiantian, Philip Feng Yuan, Shui Yanfei, Débora Mesa, Benedetta Tagliabue and Elena Orte, whose work has earned international recognition in the fields of urban regeneration, sustainability and intervention in the built heritage.
Through the exchange of experiences, projects and perspectives, participants will reflect on the challenges facing our cities today and on the role of architecture as a tool for transforming existing environments, revitalising communities and creating more sustainable, resilient and inclusive places. The forum also aims to strengthen professional, academic and institutional ties between China and Spain by fostering dialogue, cooperation and knowledge exchange.
Beyond addressing contemporary urban challenges, the event seeks to promote new opportunities for collaboration and the development of strategic partnerships around a shared vision for the future of our cities.
It will also provide an exceptional opportunity to gain first-hand insight into internationally recognised projects, experiences and best practices that are shaping innovative approaches to urban regeneration and sustainable development.
