 Stage 12

At a global scale, Becoming Circular requires not only technical shifts, but also shared frameworks, narratives and tools capable of mobilising the architectural profession.

This session positions the collaboration between UNESCO and UIA as a catalyst for embedding circularity, decarbonisation, and post-extractivist thinking into everyday practice. By aligning heritage with the broader notion of the “heritage of tomorrow”, the session frames architects as key agents that, through design, integrate resource efficiency, cultural continuity and environmental responsibility

Using the Barcelona Congress as a strategic moment of convergence, the session will explore how to translate these principles into accessible instruments: from joint communication formats and guidance materials to curated experiences that connect participants directly with UNESCO sites and programmes. Beyond institutional visibility, the objective is to establish a lasting interface between global agendas and professional practice, contributing to shaping a collective trajectory where architectural practice actively participates in the transition towards regenerative and circular built environments.
