A JDVIV / IVJDV A +ETC is an architecture practice in which making and thinking are deeply embedded. This position is articulated through the baselines Universum Carrousel Journey and Form Life Urge. The practice is led by Jan De Vylder and Inge Vinck. Inge Vinck is Professor at the Baukunstklasse, Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, and Jan De Vylder holds the chair Share of Architecture an(d) Attitude at ETH Zurich. Notable projects in the current portfolio include Palais des Expositions, the house Lieve Bloemen Lus, and the housing project Vos Bloei Bos.
Through both practice and teaching, A JDVIV / IVJDV A +ETC actively engages in exhibiting, lecturing, writing, and publishing. The work has been disseminated worldwide through international publishers, including 2G (Spain), de Aedibus (Switzerland), and A+U (Japan), as well as through cultural institutions such as deSingel Antwerp and TOTO GALLERY MA Tokyo. Self-initiated publishing is also an ongoing part of the practice, with publications including 3 Boek 789, Bravoure Scarcity Beauty, and Unless Ever People.
The practice has received numerous recognitions, including the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale, and has been a multiple-time finalist for the EU Mies Award and the Schelling Prize. Most recently, A JDVIV / IVJDV A +ETC was awarded the Belgian Architecture Excellence Award 2025 for their career and the Brussels Architecture Prize 2025, and is currently shortlisted for the EU Mies Award 2026.
The “+ETC” refers both to the many collaborations developed over time and to the studio’s conscious commitment to operating as a collaborative practice, with Jan De Vylder and Inge Vinck playing a key role.
