En – World Congress of Architects. Barcelona

The UIA2026BCN Itineraries are now open for registration

The Congress offers metropolitan Becoming Itineraries, Territory Itineraries and a Maritime Connection, with visits to emblematic architectural projects between 25 June and 5 July 2026. The routes were curated by AMOO (Aureli Mora and Omar Ornaque), following the six axes of the theme Becoming. Architectures for a Planet in Transition, conceived by the curatorial team and the Scientific Committee of the Congress, with Executive Direction and Coordination by Circa.

The Becoming Itineraries connect the six thematic axes — More-Than-Human, Attuned, Embodied, Interdependent, Hyper-conscious and Circular — with specific interventions that make it possible to understand how the concerns and debates addressed at the Congress, although constantly evolving, have always been present in architectural practice. The routes range from industrial neighbourhoods transformed with new social and cultural purposes to natural ecosystems restored for recreation and environmental stewardship. Each Becoming will include two itineraries, two ways of approaching the same theme. During the Congress, the twelve routes will run daily, with six routes in the morning and six in the afternoon, including spaces that will open exceptionally for the occasion of the Congress.

Six full-day Territory Itineraries across the region complete the programme and allow exploration beyond the metropolitan area along the following axes: Mataró–Blanes, Girona–Banyoles, Vic–Olot, Igualada–Lleida, Manresa–Berga and Tarragona–Reus. These itineraries showcase the quality of the architecture built across Catalonia, connecting architectural heritage, contemporary works and rehabilitated industrial landscapes. The routes include visits to emblematic projects — from masters of Catalan Modernisme such as Antoni Gaudí and Josep Maria Jujol to contemporary reference works by Enric Miralles and Ricardo Bofill, and award-winning interventions by H Arquitectes, Flores & Prats, Lacol and Cierto Estudio, all of whom will join UIA2026BCN this June.

The Maritime Connection route, singular and playful, proposes exploring Barcelona from the sea aboard the popular Golondrinas — a nod to the relationship between the city and tourism through an activity that was once emblematic of popular leisure before the Olympic Games. The boat will depart from the Moll de les Drassanes in Barcelona’s old town and dock at the Port Forum, close to the Congress venue, the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB).

The itineraries are exclusively available to Congress pass holders and are not included in the Congress registration fee. Pass holders may purchase up to 2 additional tickets per itinerary for guests or colleagues, provided the same accompanying guests are maintained across bookings.

The Congress offers metropolitan Becoming Itineraries, Territory Itineraries and a Maritime Connection, with visits to emblematic architectural projects between 25 June and 5 July 2026. Modes of transport will vary depending on each itinerary, mainly bus, bicycle and walking, and exceptionally by boat.
