Atelier Bow-Wow

Atelier Bow-Wow is a Tokyo-based firm founded by Yoshiharu Tsukamoto and Momoyo Kaijima in 1992. Yoichi Tamai joined as partner in 2015.

Their interest lies in diverse fields ranging from architectural design to urban research and the reconstruction of commons, which are produced, based on the theory called “behaviorology”. The practice has designed and built houses, public spaces, facilities, commercial buildings across the world. Tsukamoto and Kaijima received the Wolf Prize of Architecture in 2022.

Tokyo Metabolizing

Architecture often approaches the city through the smallest possible scale, treating the house not simply as a domestic object but as a lens to understand broader urban conditions. In the work of Atelier Bow-Wow, individual dwellings, compact sites, and everyday spatial situations become ways of observing Tokyo itself, echoing a lineage associated with Kazuo Shinohara in which questions about the metropolis are explored through the scale of the single house.

Plenary Session Becoming Attuned

Concluding Becoming Attuned, this plenary session, led by Enrique Walker and Matilde Cassani, will articulate a critical understanding of the track’s sixteen sessions through an open discussion shaped by the two Research by Design investigations, the two Emerging Workshops, and the broader questions raised throughout.
