Yoshiharu Tsukamoto was born in Kanagawa, Japan, in 1965. He graduated from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and studied at the École d’Architecture de Paris-Belleville (1987–88). He later completed his postgraduate studies at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, where he is currently a professor. He is also Director of the General Incorporated Association Small Earth.
Momoyo Kaijima was born in Tokyo in 1969. She graduated in 1991 from the Department of Housing at Japan Women’s University. In 1992, she co-founded Atelier Bow-Wow with Yoshiharu Tsukamoto. She completed a Master’s degree in Architecture at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1994 and studied at ETH Zurich (1996–97). She was part of the doctoral programme at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (1994–2000) and later taught at the University of Tsukuba, where she was Assistant Professor (2000–2009) and Associate Professor (2009–2022). Since 2017, she has been Professor of Architectural Behaviorology at ETH Zurich and serves as Vice President, and since 2024 President, of NPO Cheer Art.
