One of the faculties inherent to artists has been the ability to detect the singularity of places before anyone else, acting more as discoverers than as builders; the capacity to see, in old cement factories, industrial warehouses, mundane basements, or discreet houses on anonymous petit-bourgeois streets, the opportunity for transformation into unique and desirable spaces.
Spaces where life invites living at a different frequency and spirit are the intangibles of these intuitions, in which artists have often relied on their architects, frequently friends, to formalize their visions of space. In this sense, their role as gentrifying agents is not negligible: to follow them is often to know which neighborhood will be the next to change its identity.
